Since the top is made of cedar, the sound is enriched with a pleasant and warm note. The mahogany body, meanwhile, provides a powerful soundstage with its pronounced bass frequencies, making the instrument especially assertive during powerful strumming. The mahogany neck is equipped with an ebony fingerboard and guarantees extremely comfortable playability in all frets, which can be accessed perfectly even in the higher registers thanks to a cutaway.
The 6 steel strings can be tuned easily and precisely with the help of chrome-plated die-cast tuners, which are fixed with ebony pins in the bridge. In addition, a compensated bridge inlay and a 45 mm wide bone nut ensure clean intonation over the entire scale length of 650 mm. The fretboard features discreet offset dot inlays made of mother-of-pearl, which serve as orientation for the player. The top is bordered with a fine multi-ply inlays that perfectly match the soundhole rosette.
The HyVibe pickup system transforms the guitar into its own amplifier so that there are no limits to the player's imagination. The tone is directly picked up by two actuators positioned in the body and can be individually altered via a preamp in the frame. The system is also equipped with a reverb, chorus, delay, tremolo, octaver, phaser and distortion effect. These can be conveniently adjusted via the smartphone using the associated app. In addition, there is the possibility of an integrated looper short tracks are recorded, overdubbed and played back. The necessary power supply is provided by a lithium-ion battery, which is charged by the included power adapter.
Dowina Albalonga DCE HyVibeGreat guitar. The craftsmanship is perfect, the setup is just right. Unamplified clean sound is warm and balanced, very dynamic cedar top sound. I love the clean looks without fussy decorations. The fretboard markers are small and difficult to see. I might change the side dots to Luminlays.
Before the purchase I was a little worried if I would miss the crisp spruce top sound. No worries, the Hyvibe allows modifying the sound to whatever I like. Hyvibe's Boost effect enables an equalizer that can change the sound. If I need to boost highs, Hyvibe delivers.
The looper on an acoustic is incredibly fun, I can jam with that forever. Having the bluetooth speaker at the guitar seemed to be useless idea, but in reality that has proven to be great way to learn new songs - you can feel the correct notes in the acoustic. Reverb and Echo are for me the most usable effects. Chorus, Phaser and Tremolo work ok. Octaver and Distortion are mostly annoying.
The Hyvibe was sometimes prone to feedback. The guitar itself is so sensitive, that I had to dial back the piezo input gain to 23, to avoid feedback on most effects. The Hyvibe is at its best when used home. As the Hyvibe dials are little fiddly, I would not dare to use it for live performances - I prefer traditional effect pedals as I would always know which effects are on. At home, testing the Hyvibe effects drives my family crazy, but that does happen with all multieffects. At least the player himself enjoys.
