The TransY from ART is a particularly detailed compressor/limiter that scores with a discrete, low noise transistor signal path. A unique Feed Forward Detector structure and Servo FET Drive circuitry deliver a new level of flexibility and sound. The Trans Y therefore allows smooth and unobtrusive up to completely full sustains.
The front offers all common settings for both channels such as Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, DE-Esser and output Level, while a Bypass-, Link- and Meter-Source button provides better workflow and more flexibility. Both gain reduction and output levels are displayed via separate 10-LED meterings - perfect for quickly checking levels without taking up a lot of display space. And while we're at it: 19" racks only have to give up one height unit for the compressor/limiter.
The back shows all kinds of connection options for professional applications: This includes balanced ins and outs for XLR and jack as well as detector ins and outs per channel. The built-in operating level button is switchable to +4dBu or -10dBV, which ensures compatibility with all possible levels in all common situations. Last but not least there are practical Ground Float Buttons.
All in all, ART shows with the TransY that there is no application that the compressor/limiter would not be able to handle. Whether live gig, recording sessions or mastering - TransY has the answer.
After researching for ages, and already having some fmr audio compressors, I was looking for a rack mountable unit which I could use either as 2 separate mono channels or to link in stereo for drum bus compression.
It's a dirty piece of kit which adds some wonderful mean grit to drums, but is also subtle when less is required.
Good luck finding one! I think I got the last one available in Europe!
