In the construction of the '61 Stratocaster Heavy Relic, the Custom store follows the historically authenticated specifications from the beginning of the Sixties and adds subtle modernizations. Underneath the thin Heavy Relic nitrocellulose finish, which does not compromise the resonance of the classic bolt-on neck construction, an alder body with the comfortable "Contour Body" shapings is used. The bolt-on neck, on the other hand, is made of roasted maple with standing annual rings (Roasted Quartersawn Maple), which is particularly stable and supports the lively tonal character of the guitar. The "'60s Style Oval C" profile with modern 9.5" fingerboard radius (241 mm) promises excellent playing characteristics in all positions of the 21-fret rosewood fingerboard.

For the pickup of the Limited Edition '61 Stratocaster Heavy Relic, the luthiers at FenderCustom Shop choose three hand-wound Fat '60s single coils. Built with historically accurate components and Alnico II magnets, the pickups boast an authentic vintage sound that's perfect for sparkling cleans and assertive Overdrive with full basses and a glistening bright treble spectrum. Plus, the single-coils respond to playing style with crisp dynamics, allowing you to shape your sound with ease. A modified 5-way circuit that, in addition to a dedicated Tone control for the bridge pickup, features the ToneSaver Treble Bleed to prevent treble from bleeding when the Volume knob is turned down, controls the pickup of the electric guitar.
