Why "Salesman"?

The Ludwig Salesman Drum Set was developed in the 50s and 60s, and was originally used for presentation purposes by Ludwig representatives to showcase the available 'Sparkle' finishing options to potential customers. The modern version of the Ludwig Salesman drum sets possesses the same looks as this legendary role-model, however the construction and features, as well as the sound have been improved to meet modern standards and capabilities.

The Salesman Shells

The shells are made of 7 layers of North American maple wood, a wood which is known and popular for its warm sound, sharp attack and wide, dynamic range. The three-ply core, made up of alternating horizontal and vertical orientated layers which are glued together is covered by two layers on the inside and outside, and is brought together by the RFST Molding process. The shell bearing edge of 45° is cut 1/16” away from the outer edge of the 6mm thick shell and is then sanded smooth by hand to a soft edge, providing the perfect rest for the head.

Classics for the Classic

Even the shell hardware of the Salesman Drum sets is made up of Classic Lugs and Classic Curved Bass Drum Spurs which perfectly compliments the unique finish with their beautiful and timeless design. Please note that the Tom Toms does not possess any mounting hardware! We recommend using a stabile snare stand.
