The
MOTU 8A
is a Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 audio interface with AVB Ethernet connectivity and integrated DSP and mixing console functions. With the Ethernet port the MOTU 8A has the possibility to be integrated into an AVB network. It can also be used as a standalone 48-channel DSP mixer, which can be remotely controlled via Web App. Furthermore, the 8A AVB offers both analog and digital interfaces, such as ADAT, line inputs and outputs. It is therefore flexible in use and well suited for mobile applications.
The MOTU 8A AVB can also be connected to other AVB audio interfaces via the AVB Ethernet port, as mentioned above. This can be done either by a direct Ethernet cable connection from interface to interface or by using the single available MOTU AVB switch, which allows to connect more than two MOTU audio interfaces simultaneously. In this way, any number of inputs and outputs can be added to an existing AVB network without much effort. The standalone mixer function of the MOTU 8A rounds off the very flexible application profile of the audio interface, as it no longer needs to be controlled directly, but can be remotely controlled via a web app on iPhone, iPad, smartphone, tablet or laptop. In this way, certain parameters can be modified. This feature makes the MOTU 8A very interesting for mobile applications, such as stage or general live applications. However, it is also very suitable for studios, as it can be easily expanded through the AVB network. Furthermore, it is also well suited for home studios, as the high quality converters and very good 24-bit/192kHz resolution allow for excellent audio recordings.
The MOTU 8A AVB has latencies below 2ms, even with extensive AVB networks. So the producer, musician or songwriter can concentrate on the important things in a music production and does not have to deal with disturbingly long latency times. Furthermore, the MOTU 8A can be used to make very clear and transparent audio recordings, which is made possible by the high-end converters. Whether the line inputs are used for drum computers, synthesizers, keyboards, effect devices or other analog sound generators, there are no limits for the user. Monitoring applications are also very well feasible, because on the back of the 8A AVB 6 line outputs are available, for up to 6 speakers. The MOTU 8A is rounded off by optional digital channels via ADAT.
