The Les Paul Custom was first introduced in 1954, after Les Paul wanted a stylish luxury version of the guitar he had developed for performances.
With the Les Paul Custom Pro, the Gibson subsidiary Epiphone offers a variant of this legendary model which, besides the tempting price / performance ratio, impresses with its versatile sound and classic handling.
The neck and body of the Epiphone Les Paul Custom PRO are made of mahogany and are set in the traditional way. In combination with the solid maple top, the popular Les Paul sound is the perfect basis for classic blues and rock with singing mids with a powerful punch. The rosewood fingerboard is equipped with 22 frets ands stylish block inlays provide the best orientation even on dark stages.
With its slim "SlimTaper D" profile, the neck of the Les Paul Custom PRO fits comfortably in your hand, letting complex chords and load solos fly from the fingers.
Furthermore, the elaborate multi-ply bindings on the front and back of the body, the headstock and the neck offer optical highlights. A typical characteristic of the Les Paul Custom models is the Diamond inlay in the headstock.
The Epiphone Les Paul Custom PRO is equipped with the ProBucker pickups. These classic humbuckers impress with their warm sound, whose clear vintage character is reminiscent of the legendary PAFs of the golden 50s. However, the pickups are also convincing in modern playing styles, where they deliver riffs and solos with a powerful punch and precise attack.
Thanks to its elaborate circuitry, the Epiphone Les Paul Custom PRO also offers a wide range of sounds. In addition to the Coil Split function for characteristic single-coil sounds, a phase switch is available providing pointed, hollowed-out sounds.
The equipment of the Epiphone Les Paul Custom PRO is rounded off by high-quality hardware. From the precise Grover Rotomatics on the headstock, the strings are guided to the LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge via a Graph Tech NuBone nut, which supports sustain and brilliance with its solid construction. The ball ends are fixed by the LockTone Stopbar. The golden finish of the hardware appointments fit perfectly with the overall premium appearance of the Les Paul Custom PRO.
Right out of the box, ready to use. Even with delivered strings. Just needed a simple tune-up, and was ready to go. Very nice guitar. Fully fulfilled my expectations. Nice craftmanship, and seems good quality. This is my first Epiphone product, and Im sure its not my last.
I have been playing an Epiphone Dot for the past 5 years and I am well use to the sound and quality. However this model is far more superior. I was expecting an entry/intermediate level quality however it feels and sounds much better then any guitar I have played in my time as a guitarist. At this price it is close to impossible for you to be disappointed.
It sounds and feels like a much more expensive guitar, maybe the quality control is not so tight as in the mother brand Gibson, but when they come out right they sound and feel very near the same!
If you're recording the difference gets clearly noticeable when leaping to an €1800 model, but... that's quite a stretch!
Great guitar, recommended!
