The Fame SE Series TL Deluxe Amber combines the traditional TL style with beautiful custom appointments without tearing a hole in your wallet. While the mahogany body with top and back made of flamed maple and tortoise bindings presents itself as a dignified eye-catcher, the bolt-on maple neck nestles comfortably in the picking hand and creates optimal playing conditions on the 21-fret fingerboard. Two single-coil pickups reinforced with ceramic magnets conjure up a subtly modernized twang sound on the guitar amp, which also convinces with lively assertiveness in the overdrive channel. Fame TL Deluxe AmberI ordered the Fame SE TL Deluxe Amber, because I wanted to find out if the buzz over Fame Guitars really is justified.
In short, the guitar is much better than I'd expected, even if the bridge was installed a tad askew (no practical problem, only cosmetic) and the stripe on the body isn't actually going down the middle (cosmetic, too).
The guitar plays well and sounds much better than I'd expected at this price point. The out-of-phase middle position on the switch is cool for really funky excursions.
