Yamaha SB-7X Silent Brass II for Trumpet and CornetI am a complete novice. Normally a drummer and bass player. I wanted to try a new instrument, (trumpet) so bought the 'Silent Brass' to be able to play and learn without annoying my lovely neighbours. It is excellent. The mute fits and works well. It's lightweight. The remodelling unit produces a good reproduction of the sound I am playing and the neighbours are happy. You need a bit more puff as you'd expect using a mute but it's not much of a problem. The earphones included are poor, hence why I didn't give it 5 stars. But I rate this product highly and am extremely pleased with it.
I am just learning to play the cornet - A second hand Yamaha YCR-2330ii. Normally I can only practise if the house is empty and the neighbours are out. Now I can practise any time. My progress in a few days has been very good. My only criticism of this device is that the STX-2 battery compartment is a bit flimsy, but that is more than compensated for by the sound that comes through the earphones. I am looking forward now to every lesson with this transformational piece of equipment.
