AKAI Professional MPC Key 37 Sampling Workstation with keyboard

The MPC Key 37 from Akai Professional combines the power of the current MPC Generation and the proven operation with a pleasantly playable 37-key keyboard that generates velocity and aftertouch. Most of the controls, including the razor-sharp 7" multi-touch display, are identical to the other MPC models. The MPC Key 37 and direct access to sounds, transposition for the keyboard as well as pitch bend and modulation wheel have been added. By merging a keyboard, sampler, sequencer, various synth plug-ins with thousands of sounds, over 100 high-quality effects and intuitive operation, AKAI has developed a multifunctional all-in-one instrument that is ideal as a studio and live center for musicians of almost all genres. Designed as a professional standalone sampling workstation, there is hardly any discipline that the workstation cannot handle. Thanks to its well thought-out operation and the good workflow of the MPC series, the instrument is very results-oriented. Overall, the MPC Key 37 has a very live-ready design: the larger housing means there is more space between all the controls, which is also used for additional labeling. Four knobs, which can be freely assigned in four groups or assigned to specific parameters in the respective plug-ins, make tweaking sounds and effects a real pleasure. Thanks to Wifi and Bluetooth, wireless music equipment such as a wind transducer can be connected to the workstation and used to play the sounds.

High-resolution control

The central control element of the MPC Key 37 is the large 7" full-color multi-touch screen. Editing MIDI events, adding effects, editing step sequences, browsing through sound categories, arranging, sampling and much more can be done intuitively.

Illuminated pads

The velocity-sensitive pads (and the keyboard) are used to play the notes into the sequencer and trigger the sounds. For an even better overview, the pads are backlit in RGB colors. Of course, the pads also master the tricks of the old MPCs, such as 16 levels, 16 notes, full Level and mute.

Memory capacity

The MPC Key 37 has an internal memory capacity of 32 GB, the memory also includes a 10 GB Factory Library ! The size of the working memory is 2 GB RAM. An SD card reader is built in for additional storage space and as an option for data exchange.

Plug-in synthesizers & effects

The Akai MPC Key 37 contains eight powerful plug-in synthesizers that can be used as fully-fledged instruments without the need for a computer connection. Over 6000 presets provide an excellent basis for a musical journey of discovery:

  • TubeSynth emulates the sound of classic analog polysynths with Analog-Modeling technology
  • Bassline emulates the sound of classic Vintage mono synthesizers.
  • Electric emulates the sound of classic electric pianos.
  • Drumsynth 8 synthesis models for your own drum sounds
  • AIR Hype over 1500 inspiring sounds of different genres and synthesis forms
  • AIR Mellotron emulates the band-based cult instrument Mellotron
  • AIR Solina emulates the 70s String synthesizer ARP Solina String Ensemble
  • WayOutWare Odyssey emulates the iconic analog synthesizer ARP Odyssey

What would the coolest sounds be without effects? It's like the salt in the soup; there should always be a little bit. Over 100 effects are waiting to be used! Various Delay and Reverb variants, all modulation effects such as chorus, Flanger or Phaser and, of course, harder effects such as distortion and bitcrushers are also on board. Even the audio input live can be provided with effects. Specialized FX plug-ins for pitch correction, improving spatial perception and creating four-part harmonies are particularly useful for a connected microphone.

Connections for Studio and Eurorack

The rear of the MPC Key 37 is pleasingly versatile. In addition to the keyboard, there are the foot pedal connections Expression, Sustain and Footswitch. This increases the expressive possibilities on the keyboard with the usual pedals. MIDI is communicated via the In/Out and USB connection duo. This is perfect for anyone who wants to operate additional equipment such as a rack synthesizer or a DAW with the MPC Key 37. In its capacity as a sampler, an audio input is a must! A stereo input with a high-quality 24-bit converter brings every signal up to the desired level. There is a stereo output for the signal output. Eight freely configurable CV/Gate outputs, which are available as dual TRS connectors, enable the connection between the MPC Key 37 and a modular system. Other synthesizers that have CV/Gate inputs can also be controlled by the MPC Key 37 in this way.
