The Yamaha YDP-166 is the powerful classical console model of the new ARIUS series and is aimed at pianists who are looking for an authentic playing feel, an expressive grand piano sound and a design suitable for the living room. The GrandTouch-E keyboard with synthetic ebony and ivory key surfaces and escapement takes centre stage. As a result, the instrument responds sensitively to nuances of touch and conveys a playing feel that is clearly reminiscent of an acoustic upright or grand piano.

The sound of the YDP-166 is based on the carefully sampled sound of the Yamaha CFX concert grand piano. This grand piano sound offers a clear, balanced character from the deep bass to the brilliant treble. Thanks to VRM Lite, resonances are reproduced more naturally, making the playing sound livelier and more organic. The 192-voice polyphony ensures that even dense chords, pedal passages and classical literature are reproduced reliably.

For everyday use, the Yamaha YDP-166 offers numerous digital functions that make practising and playing music more convenient. These include 10 tone colours, four reverb types, dual function, duo mode, metronome, transpose and tuning functions as well as an integrated 2-track recorder. In addition, 50 classic preset songs and 303 lesson songs are available. The instrument can be connected wirelessly to compatible smart devices via Bluetooth Audio and Bluetooth MIDI. The Yamaha Smart Pianist app enables convenient operation, access to settings and additional practice functions.

Even when playing with headphones, the sound experience remains convincing: the Stereophonic Optimiser ensures a natural spatial perception, while Intelligent Acoustic Control keeps the sound balanced even at low volumes. With 2x 20 watts of amplifier power and two 12 cm speakers with diffuser, the YDP-166 delivers a powerful, focussed sound for the living room.
