The J-45 Mahogany 2018 combines the broad sound of the Round Shoulder Dreadnought with the round and central sound character of the mahogany body, while the Antique Natural finish presents the grain and texture of the wood. Thanks to L.R. Baggs’ VTC pickups, the J-45 Mahogany 2018 is a true all-purpose acoustic guitar for strummers, pickers, performers and studio musicians.
Mahogany like woods are extremely popular among fingerpickers of blues and country due to their mid-focused and singing sound and are often used as a popular sound supplement to spruce or cedar in the back and sides. The J-45's two-piece, 4-ply binding top is made of AA grade mahogany and presents an even and even grain with a detailed depth effect.
The neck is also made of mahogany and comes in the slim taper TM profile for agile runs over the one-piece rosewood fingerboard with a thickness of 21mm behind the 1st fret, while the saddle has a width of 43.8mm, which suits both classic strummers and fingerstyle fans.
The active VTC pickup provides amplification via PA system or recordings in studio quality. The combination of pickup and preamp processes the signal and provides the sound image of the Gibson J-45 Mahogany 2018 for recording purposes, for example. Classic Grover Rotomatik tuners in gold plated design adorn the headstock of the Gibson J-45, while the best possible string position for handling and playability is achieved by means of PLEK treatment.
