Alfred Music Open-Handed Starter
The right introduction to the open playing style
"Open-Handed Playing" - the"not crossing" of hands while playing drums - is perceived by non-drummers as the actually natural playing position, the cross playing however as unnatural.
Among trained drummers, however, the preference for one of these two playing styles repeatedly leads to polarizations. Actually incomprehensible, because the advantages of open playing compared to playing with crossed hands are obvious : More freedom of movement when playing hi-hat and snare at the same time.ergonomically more advantageous body posture on the drumset and more diverse sound selection in the open playing position.
