The D’Addario IR MIC MUTE at a glance

The IR MIC MUTE from D’Addario offers users the ability to mute microphones automatically. The IR MIC MUTE thus helps to reduce unwanted background noise and minimise the risk of feedback.

It is designed to be simple and straightforward to use. An infrared sensor detects whether or not a person is standing near the microphone. The range can be adjusted from 0 to 24 inches using a rotary dial. If the sensor detects a person, the device unmutes and the red indicator LED lights up. Should the person move out of the sensor’s range, the device switches back to mute.

It is also possible to bypass the automatic mute function using a bypass button.

The IR MIC MUTE requires phantom power.
