The J & D LS II Copper-Gold is all about the famous blues-rock icon in singlecut design and offers fat sounds at an unbeatable price. The classic tonewood combination of mahogany and maple ensures authentic sounds, giving the basic character of the guitar a warm and full note. Naturally, two humbucker pickups are used in the neck and bridge position. All the sounds of the original can be called up via the separate controls for Volume and Tone and a toggle switch with three switching positions. The J & D LS II Copper-Gold is completed by a Tune-o-Matic bridge and a Stopbar made of aluminum and six die-cast tuners with a chrome look.
Pros: beautiful genuine maple top, all Mahogony (like the real deal), bone nut, rosewood fretboard (dry out of the box), great craftsmanship and finish, lovely neck. Negative (let's call it "meh", as expected and no deal-breakers): pickups harsh and just loud without definition, cheap dime sized pots and cheap wiring, some high frets that need leveling, wobbly tuners. With about 100£ in upgrades (pickups, tuners, wiring and pots) you get yourself a guitar that rivals any Epiphone for half the price. The shape is slightly off (bulkier on the left, opposite the horn), but it makes the guitar look a bit more individual. Similar guitars in the same price range are basswood or Okoume - here you get the full Mahogany deal. A perfect base for an amazing LP!
