The SideStepper works with analog ducking and gating circuits based on a discrete, FET-controlled stereo VCA. The dynamics section is controlled by an integrated step sequencer with freely programmable stereo patterns. Pattern lengths from 1 to 16 steps, individual step lengths, shuffle and random functions as well as a one-shot mode enable complex polyrhythms, dynamic accents and modern pump effects. Triggering is versatile via internal step sequencer, external sidechain signal and main audio signal. An integrated, CV-controllable bandpass filter allows frequency-selective reactions - ideal for kick, snare or targeted rhythmic impulses.
The robust all-metal housing forms the heart of the system and offers space for up to five modules from the Rodec 100 series. With balanced stereo inputs and outputs, high headroom up to +26 dBu, CV connection as well as MIDI and pulse sync, the system is fully suitable for studio and stage use. The integrated power supply and the comprehensive audio and control connection make the bundle a space-saving, professional solution for modular, hybrid and DAW-based setups.
