The Universal Audio Quad Core Desktop DSP Accelerator Unit USB (Core) is a desktop DSP accelerator for Windows-based PC’s. This means dedicated processing for your mixes, allowing more tracks and effects than your PC would ordinarily be able to comfortably handle. The Satellite also comes with a selection of UA Plug-Ins on-board (the amount and exact nature of the plug-ins being decided by the package chosen at purchase), and being a dedicated unit the access to these plug-ins rivals Firewire in terms of latency and response. Regardless of the package chosen the Satellite gives complete and simple access to all of Universal Audio’s purchasable plug-ins, which can be placed directly into the UAD-2. At present the list of these world-class plug-ins are over 90 in number, and include releases from manufacturers such as Marshall, Struder, Neve, Manley, Lexicon and more. Every UAD-2 package features the Analog Classics Plus bundle completely free, giving immediate access to Legacy Editions of the LA-2A Classic Audio Leveler, 1176 Classic Limiting Amplifiers, Pultec EQP-1A, Pultec Pro, and Fairchild 670 plug-ins, plus 610-B Tube Preamp and more besides.

The UAD-2 comes in two main forms, based on the number of processors within – a 4 (Quad) core version and an 8 (Octo) core. These SHARC processors are guaranteed to take some real strain before you’ll see any evidence on-screen, on anything but the very largest mix projects. All major DAWs are compatible with the UAD-2, including Pro Tools, Cubase, Live and more. If more power is desired the expandable nature of the UAD-2 makes integration as simple as picking up a Universal Audio DSP Accelerator card, Apollo Twin USB interface or UAD-2 Satellite Firewire. The UAD-2 is available as Core, Custom, and Ultimate Software Packages dependant on the needs of the buyer.
