With the Cryptid Fuzz, Wampler is launching an effects pedal that pays homage to the legendary fuzz pedals of music history and at the same time turns out to be a modern creative tool for guitarists. Brian Wampler himself describes the Cryptid as a fusion of his favorite pedals: From the warm, dynamic lead sound of the Fuzz Face to the aggressive behavior of the Tone Bender to the solid wall of sound of a Big Muff - everything can be found here. At the same time, the Cryptid integrates the intuitive controls and flexible sound character of the Wampler Velvet Fuzz. Particularly noteworthy: The Character control allows you to morph between different fuzz characters - from saturated distortion tones to experimental "Fuzz Factory"-like textures. The Tight switch forms the bass foundation for precise doom riffs or focused rock distortion, while the Chime switch adds harmonic freshness to the sound.

Versatile fuzz workshop with natural sound behavior

In a live and studio context, the Cryptid Fuzz shows what a modern fuzz pedal can do: The circuit reacts highly sensitively to the volume and tone controls of the electric guitar, which means that the pedal can also be excellently stacked or specifically integrated into dynamic playing styles. If you reduce the guitar's Volume, you won't get any muffled remnants, but brilliantly clear clean sounds with a vintage character - just like classic germanium fuzzes. And anyone who previously knew Fuzz as an undefined sound sludge will be proven wrong here: the Cryptid also offers tight, tube-like distortion sounds with a great sound characteristic. With four controls for Volume, Fuzz, Tone and Character as well as two mini switches and a completely new circuit, this US-made pedal is a real highlight among modern boutique fuzzes.
