Audient iD 14 MKII USB-C Audio Interface
Audient is entering its second round with the popular iD4 USB audio interface, building directly on the huge success of its predecessor. The updated successor iD4 MKII delivers improved dynamics and frequency response thanks to new converter technology, while a Class-A microphone preamp from Audient's high-end ASP8024 HE console adds that certain something. The audio interface is connected via a USB-C port, which also improves the power supply and simplifies handling.
Practical features of the predecessor have been adopted and continue to contribute to the fast work with the DAW. For example, the housing remains robust and"Audient-typical" with controls on the top to ensure an easy workflow. Phantom power, monitor mix and monitor panning functions, as well as iD Control knobs with ScrollControl for DAW integration are all within easy reach, while levels can be read quite easily. Rounding out the overall home recording package is a comprehensive ARC software package that can be downloaded after purchase. On board are Cubase LE + Cubasis LE 2, Steinberg Retrologue 2 Synth, TwoNotes Wall of Sound, Loopmasters Sample Pack and much more!
Scope of delivery:
Audient iD4 MkIIVery sturdy build. Excelent sound quality. Two separate headphone outs. It has a USB type-C connector which is OK, although 90% of users are going to need a regular USB 3.0 (type-A) adapter for the computer end. But it comes only with a short type-C to type-C cable. However, it works fine with regular USB 3.0 and even USB 2.0 sockets on the computer end with an adapter or C to A cable. Latency so far seems OK even though Audient do not have their own driver - it is the common "Theyscon" (?) ASIO driver. One problem with this was updating the firmware - it hung while "initialising". Swapping USB sockets didn't help, eventually had to actually uninstall the driver/s from Device Manager (Win 7) during the early update phase, then it suddenly completed.
