Thanks to its compact dimensions, the DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel from Blackmagic Design is ideal for freelance film editors and colorists. It offers a range of specialized tools for precise adjustments of luminance and chrominance color values. Three weighted, high-resolution trackballs ensure a comfortable and fluid workflow. In total, 12 precision-engineered controls are available, while dedicated buttons allow switching between the Log and Primary wheels as well as quick access to Full Screen mode.

The individual controls and their effect

The Y Lift, Y Gamma, and Y Gain controls are used to adjust luminance, while the Luminance control changes brightness without affecting color saturation. The Contrast slider varies the tonal differences between light and dark areas of the image. The Pivot slider refines the adjusted contrast in the tonal center, and the “Midtone Detail” slider defines the perceived sharpness of the image. “Color Boost” increases overall color saturation, while the “Shadows” and “Highlights” sliders allow you to lighten or darken shadow and highlight areas respectively.
