RTOM MoonGel Workout Practice Pad 7" (Blue)Bought this to develop my week left hand. I had noticed as a right hand lead player that my left hand didn't have the smae dexterity as my right hand. I think to much time was spent relying on the bounce of my practice pad and mesh electronic kit and when transfering to the accustic kit my left hand was struggling to and sounding sloppy. This pad gives you virtually no rebound so you really have to work on your tap up strokes and full strokes. Going through the 40 PAS rudiments (39 as the buzz roll is impossible on it ! well for me) by the time I get to the Drags it's like walking through sticky mud. Time will and of course practice will tell how this works out but already I can feel and hear areas that need improving.
Although this practice pad does the job, I am a little disappointed as the seal on the item sent
had been broken and there is some very noticeable rippling/
creasing of the playing suface that doesn't look good. However, I can live with it as the performance is ok.
I have two Even Real Feel (7" and 12") and a Drumeo P4 Pat Petrillo practice pad.
I'm only using the Rtom now. It almost doesn't have any rebound, so it's all in your wrist. After just one week I can already feel the difference. This got way easier in the regular heads or pads.
I'm selling the other 12" pads and will keep only the Evan 7" Real Feel and the RTom Moongel. That's all I need.
Great feel and pretty damn quiet. Great for the "practice on a pillow" type workout.
Plus, these guys were great to deal with .. very happy
