Teenage Engineering offers with the OP-1 Accessory Kit a set with the most popular extensions for the OP-1. So you have the most important things right at your fingertips to break new creative ground: Antenna, Crank, Bender & Brick Shaft.
There’s a problem when it comes to most Teenage Engineering products, it’s not style nor suitability, it’s cost.
The OP-1 is undeniably one of the most genre or even era defining synthesisers we’ve seen as musicians for probably some 10-15 years but really it’s cost prohibitive for many fledgling musicians, especially following it’s more recent price hike.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun, widely available, useable and more than capable of being a central piece of kit in many studios but it’s expensive.
Unfortunately due to its cost prohibitive nature this has a knock on effect with its accessories.
Let’s not beat around the bush, the OP-1 accessory set is expensive! There is very little in this kit that should put its price point at say, half the price of a Volca series or even on par with a Pocket Operator but hey, you’re paying for an OP-1 product.
The set is fun, if you’re willing to be experimental and playful you’ll get a lot out of this but it’s high paywall means young, inventive and not well off musicians will probably never have a chance to play with this which is a real shame.
