The Antelope Audio Discrete 8 Oryx Synergy Core is a high-performance audio interface. Eight discrete preamps, high-quality AD/DA converters, flexible routing options and integrated real-time effects make it a reliable hub for recording, mixing and hybrid setups. Whether you’re recording to tape, producing or reamping, the Oryx remains transparent, fast and musical.

The Discrete 8 Oryx SC features the latest converters from Antelope Audio, delivering up to 130 dB of dynamic range at the monitor outputs, combined with the company’s proprietary 64-bit AFC clocking technology. The result is an open stereo image with stable localisation and clean depth layering. Subtleties are preserved, transients are rendered precisely, and even complex sessions remain easy to follow.
The eight discrete microphone preamps, each featuring a 6-transistor design, deliver up to 75 dB of gain and operate with extremely low noise. They are equally suited to dynamic microphones, sensitive ribbon microphones, condenser microphones or line signals. Two inputs can also be used as Hi-Z, ideal for connecting a guitar or bass directly to the interface. The sound remains neutral and controlled, with plenty of headroom for loud sources.
Thanks to Synergy Core, compressors, EQs, guitar amps and other effects run directly on the hardware. Two DSPs and an FPGA handle the processing, taking the load off the computer and allowing musicians to hear effects without delay whilst recording. 37 effects are included as standard, with the option to add more. Working with it feels particularly direct, especially when tracking vocals or guitars.
Four independent headphone outputs allow for individual mixes for each band member. The integrated X-Feed function mitigates the typical left-right sensation of headphones and simulates listening via speakers. Talkback, the dim function and presets are controlled via the software and can optionally be triggered directly via a footswitch, which noticeably speeds up sessions.
With 26 inputs and 38 outputs simultaneously, DC-coupled line outputs, reamp outputs, ADAT, S/PDIF and Word Clock, the Discrete 8 Oryx can be easily integrated into larger studios. Synths, outboard gear, guitar amps and DAWs all work seamlessly together. Antelope Audio’s virtual patchbay ensures that even complex routings remain clear and can be adjusted quickly.
