With the KeyStep 37, Arturia presents the next generation of its successful KeyStep. The 37-key keyboard of this USB/DAW controller is velocity-sensitive and features aftertouch. Another new feature is the LED above each keyboard key, which lights up when inputting notes as well as when playing back the internal sequencer or notes from a DAW track. The sequencer itself can be programmed to be monophonic or polyphonic, can have a step length of up to 64 steps and can also overdub if required; for example, to replace notes or add further ones. The four rotary controls are organised into four banks and can therefore be assigned to up to 16 parameters. The internal arpeggiator retains its functionality and, as with its predecessor, is controlled via its own knobs. In addition, the Chord Mode has been significantly expanded: the four rotary controls are used to tune the held chord. Thanks to the selectable scales, the KeyStep 37 covers a range of scales that go beyond 12-tone music and can also be defined by the user. In terms of connectivity, the Arturia KeyStep 37 leaves nothing to be desired: analogue outputs for CV, Gate and Mod, MIDI In/Out, an input for a sustain pedal, Sync In/Out (e.g. for the Teenage Engineering PO series) and, of course, USB.
