With the Xenyx-Q-USB series Behringer shows how to build modern compact mixing consoles without compromising equipment or quality. The ingredients are high-quality microphone preamps, an EQ design inspired by studio classics and well thought-out routing options. Thanks to its class-compliant USB audio interface, the XENYX X1204USB works with most computers, laptops and tablets without additional drivers. This means you are equipped for the most diverse requirements in the rehearsal room, on stage or in the studio.
The high-quality Yenyx microphone preamplifiers, which are also used in many other Behringer products, are characterized by an extremely low harmonic distortion, a signal-to-noise ratio of an incredible 130 dB and a solid headroom. The four microphone inputs have an easy-to-use but effective compressor that can be operated with a controller and compensates for extreme level differences without creating artifacts. Condenser microphones are powered by the switchable 48 V phantom power.
In addition to the microphone channels, the two stereo inputs also benefit from the practically designed EQs, with the warm sound of classic British mixing consoles. The line level inputs can be switched from -10 dB to +4dB studio level.
Aux-1 can be pre- or post-fadered in any channel, making it suitable for monitor mix and effect control. Aux-2 is a post-fader and leads to the internal effect device as well as to the Aux-Send 2 output. Both aux sends have a master control and can be listened to solo. Stereo Aux-Return 1 can be adjusted to Aux-Send 1 - practically to put an external effect on the monitor path. As a target for the internal effects, you can choose between main mix and the ALT 3-4 bus. The Phones/Controlroom output can be connected to the sources 2-Track/USB, ALT 3-4 and Main-Mix individually. Input signals that are not to be recorded via the main mix can be connected to the ALT 3-4 bus via mute switch and still be monitored simultaneously.
In the 24-bit multi-effect section with its own level display, a 24-bit Texas Instrument DSP provides 16 high-quality effects. 5 reverb variations, 4 early reflection and delay effects, chorus, flanger, phaser, detune, pitch shifter and delay/reverb as well as chorus/reverb effect combinations can be selected by rotary switch. For easy adjustment of delay times to the song tempo, a tap button is used. In addition to selecting the preset, the encoder also serves to operate an effect parameter. The effect can be switched on and off by connecting a suitable, optional foot switch. Whether for live mixing or studio tracking, a suitable reverb, chorus or multi-effect is always provided.
Behringer provides a comprehensive software package with Audacity Vinyl Restoration/Recording, Podifier, Golden Ear and Podcasting when registering the product so that recordings can start immediately. The internal switching power supply saves weight and automatically adjusts to the available mains voltage, so that there are no nasty surprises even in countries with different mains voltages Compact, equipped with high-quality, modern technology and optimized for highest sound quality, the Xenyx Q1204USB is a robust tool that cuts a good figure on tour, in rehearsal rooms or home studios.
