SD cards are widely available, inexpensive and extremely reliable. That's why they are perfect as professional data carriers in the broadcast sector. The icing on the cake: Unlike mechanical hard drives, they offer zero latency and instant playback. The HyperDeck Studio Mini records to both regular SD and high performance UHS-II cards.
Use standard SD cards or, for Ultra HD recording, UHS-II cards. Because SD cards are so small, you can create your own archive of content. In fact, it takes up only a fraction of the space needed for old tapes and discs. Plus, with the latest software update, the HyperDeck Studio Mini can record more than 3 hours of footage in a single file!
For non-stop recording, the HyperDeck Studio Mini is equipped with dual SD card slots. When one card is full, recording automatically continues on the next card. So you don't have to worry about missing an important shot. This is ideal for recording extended live events, as the cards are hot-swappable. Simply replace the full card with an empty one while the other card slot continues recording.
Each of the two slots has its own indicator light that changes color depending on its status. So you know instantly which card is in use. Because the SD card slots have separate circuit boards, the HyperDeck Studio Mini is repairable. When the circuit board wears out due to intensive use, it can be easily replaced.
The HyperDeck Studio Mini stores video in ProRes files by default. This is one of the most widely used professional video file formats in the world. You get high-quality recordings in 10-bit YUV or 10-bit RGB in all formats up to 2160p/30 on memory cards formatted in ExFAT or HFS+. ProRes files are compatible with software like DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro X. So you can simply plug the memory card into your computer and start editing without any conversion. Even ProRes 4:4:4 is supported - in HD even with image and alpha channels. This is ideal for keying graphics and stinger transitions. Simply play out broadcast graphics as fill-and-key signals to your live production mixer and overlay them on your live video.
The HyperDeck Studio Mini records files that are compatible with just about any post-production software. If you're using a popular editing software such as DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer, you can start editing and color grading immediately without having to convert or recode the files first. Even motion graphics and visual effects artists using software like Fusion and After Effects can work with these files effortlessly!
