With the L.R. Baggs HiFi Duet Hybrid, the amplified sound of an acoustic-style guitar can be flexibly adapted to the instrument, playing style and personal sound preferences. To achieve this, the system utilises a combination of HiFi bridgeplate sensors and an internal Silo microphone. Whilst the sensors directly capture the guitar’s vibrations, the microphone enhances the signal by adding additional frequencies from inside the instrument.
The contribution of each component to the overall signal can be easily adjusted using the controls on the soundhole. In addition to the volume, the balance between the two sound sources can be adjusted. The microphone level can also be regulated, allowing the system to be tailored to different instruments and applications. An integrated battery indicator also makes it easy to check the power supply.
The accompanying preamp is discreetly housed within the instrument, so that the guitar’s external appearance remains largely unchanged. L.R. Baggs supplies a suitable mounting aid for positioning the bridgeplate sensors. Power is supplied via a 9 V block battery, which is also included in the package.
