Flexible Fuzz and Distortion Pedal

With the Wampler Ratsbane Brian Wampler sends his personal interpretation of one of the most famous Distortion circuits into the race. Based on a fully analog circuit with three gain modes and two voicings, the pedalboard-friendly mini pedal delivers a surprisingly wide sound spectrum, ranging from juicy, almost clean boost to hairiest high-gain Distortion.

Three Gain Modes

The gain switch on Wampler's Ratsbane Distortion provides three different basic tones that are ideal for creating multi-faceted guitar sounds. The middle position is the "stock mode" with the typical distortion spectrum of the classic model, while the left switch position produces a decided but smooth increase in distortion in the mids and highs. In the right switch position, the Ratsbane increases the distortion enormously across all frequency ranges, delivering an extremely dense, hairy Fuzz distortion.

Two voicings

The two selectable voicings of the Wampler Ratsbane also influence the behavior and feel of the circuit. In the left switch position, the Ratsbane corresponds to the circuit of the classic role model with extremely hard clipping, whereby the spectrum of gain control ranges from almost clean sounds to hairy Fuzz Distortion . In the right position of the switch, on the other hand, the pedal transforms into a modern distortion unit with a powerful response.

Classic tone control

Thanks to the classic 3 knob layout, the Ratsbane by Wampler can also be adjusted quickly and intuitively. The Distortion kn ob affects gain and distortion as usual. The Filter knob, on the other hand, determines the tone via a low-pass filter, whereby the full treble spectrum is available when turned to the left, which is thinned out further and further as the knob is turned clockwise. Last but not least, the Volume kn ob adjusts the Ratsbane's volume.
