The Roland JD-Xi RD is based on a modern analog/digital crossover sound generation. A monophonic bass and lead synthesizer with analog oscillators and analog filters provides rich and warm analog sounds. In addition, two blocks of Roland's SuperNatural sound generation with a total of 128 voices of polyphony are available, with which realistic sounds such as strings, pads, brass and more can be realized. These are then post-processed by a multimode filter, as it is also used in AIRA System-1. The pattern-oriented step sequencer of the JD-Xi RD uses internal drum kits that create rhythmic beats in no time at all. A gooseneck microphone and vocoder are also available! The compact design makes the JD-Xi RD extremely mobile and easy to transport.
Roland's JD-Xi RD crossover synthesizer combines analog and digital synths in a single keyboard. The monophonic analog synthesizer section offers sawtooth, triangle and square waveforms with PWM. An analog filter and suboscillator add the finishing touches to the analog sounds. With a total of 128-voice polyphones, two digital synthesizers create synth sounds that originate from Roland's SuperNATURAL sound generation. Among them are pads, strings, electric piano, sound effects and much more. The effects section of the JD-Xi RD can be used to switch the effects on and off for each of the three synth parts and the drum part. Effects like Bit Crusher, Slicer, Ring Mod, Delay and Reverb provide a variety of sounds.
The sequencer is divided in its functionality between drum sequencer and bass/lead sequencer. The drum sequencer is based on the legendary TR machines and the bass sequencer is derived from the TB-303. The intuitive Pattern Sequencer can control four separate tracks: two digital synth parts, an analog synth part and a drum part. JD-Xi RD has a wide range of internal drum kits that create powerful beats. Filter, envelope, pitch and pan parameters of the drum sounds can be edited individually. Roland's JD-Xi RD still has an ace up its sleeve! In addition to the four effect engines, a vocoder is also provided, which, in conjunction with the gooseneck microphone, allows the popular robot voices and other vocoder effects to be created, including a new autopitch function. Thanks to its 37 mini keys and compact dimensions, the JD-Xi RD is easy to transport.
