Great if you like bass and hi-hats, but the mid-range is weak. They made my Yamaha digital piano, on the Grand Piano voice, sound like a pub honky-tonk piano. For mixing, even at amateur level, and for general listening, the overwhelming bass and thin sound are a problem.
The sound quality is amazing considering the price. I bought them to play guitar at night and they excel. And they are soooooo comfortable. Just great.
I bought these as I'd got fed up with my previous headphones had the ear cushions that rotted leaving bit of black all over the place, not the least of which was my head and clothes. AKG have a different approach, the headband being leather, and the ear cushions are replaceable. That being the main reason for the purchase I was very pleased with the sound, which is excellent, the comfort, and light weight, which combine to mean you I wear these headphone for long periods without discomfort. Very pleased.
