The once "futuristic" electric guitar is now considered an absolute cult classic for heavy rock and metal fans. Accordingly, the Gibson '70s Flying V is a declaration of love for this iconic guitar of the seventies, which could find a home in the hands of greats like Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield, as well as Paul Stanley or even Eddie van Halen. In typical Gibson fashion, the Flying V in Antique Natural nitrocellulose finish is composed of a mahogany body and neck, which are made comfortable by smooth glueing and the classic SlimTaper neck profile. Furthermore, a rosewood fingerboard offers buttery smooth playing characteristics over 22 frets.
Both humbuckers can be adjusted tonally via a 3-way circuit, as well as two controls for volume and a treble slider.
'70s Tribute humbucker and hardware
Two 70s Tribute humbuckers in neck and bridge position are responsible for the assertive rock sound, which can convince with strong Output and Alnico IV heat at the amplifier. The double coils are particularly suitable for hot overdrive sounds due to their thick winding and load capacity, which do not allow any disturbing Feedback even at high volume. Last but not least, the 70s Flying V is equipped with a traditional hardware finish in chrome. Accordingly, the combination of Gibson Tune-o-Matic bridge with an aluminium stopbar and Grover Rotomatic tuners ensures robust intonation.
