The limited Gibson Les Paul Studio Gold Series is a straightforward workhorse for recording and stage. By dispensing with optical ornamentation, only the tone is in the foreground. Based on the traditional mahogany construction with maple top, the electric guitar has the perfect foundation for the classic Les Paul sound, while Gibson 490R and 498T humbuckers with the coil split option deliver variable tones to the amplifier.
The Gibson Les Paul Studio Gold Series is designed by the Nashville-based Gibson USA Factory to follow the classic 1952 specifications, with a mahogany body and solid maple top, and a rosewood fingerboard on the glued mahogany neck. To ensure that even long gigs and studio sessions can be played without problems, the body features Ultra-Modern Weight Relief for weight reduction, while the "Slim Taper" profile lies comfortably in the hand and offers the perfect basis for classic and modern playing techniques.
The Gibson Les Paul Studio Gold Series uses a Gibson 490R humbucker on the neck and a 498T humbucker on the bridge. With hot wound coils and powerful Alnico mixes, they deliver a modern, well-defined humbucker sound that never denies its relationship to the legendary PAFs. Accordingly, the electric guitar delivers the right timbres for classical and modern interpretations of blues and pop. Another special feature is the Coil Tap mode for each humbucker that provides authentic single coil sounds, which can be accessed via push/pull potentiometers.
The Gibson Les Paul Studio Gold Series hardware is completely gold-finished with a focus on unrestricted functionality. The strings are held on the body by the proven combination of aluminium stop bar and Tune-O-Matic bridge, which ensures perfect adjustment of intonation and string position. From there the strings run with 24.75" scale length (628 mm) over the neck, where they first meet the tektoid saddle and then are led to the indestructible Grover Rotomatic tuners, which convince with high precision and tuning stability.
