With the Sandberg California Grand Dark 5 PF Black Matte, the Braunschweig-based bass manufacturer presents a five-string bass that has been trimmed to the hardest of styles. Thanks to its 35" scale and dark glass electronics, it fulfils even the most brute sound wishes with flying colours. Sandberg relies on an ash body in the offset design of the California V and a six-point bolted maple neck with Pau Ferro fingerboard. In addition, Sandberg Plus pickups developed especially for the Grand Dark Range guarantee a powerful and differentiated sound. Last but not least the Sandberg California Grand Dark is equipped with the Sandberg Bridge 4 and Sandberg Machine Heads in a chic gunmetal look.
During the construction of the Sandberg California Grand Dark, the Braunschweig bass builders pay special attention to a powerful sound that presents every note with a tight definition even in low tunings. Accordingly, the five-string is built around an extended 35" long scale (889 mm) using an ash body and a six-ply bolt-on maple neck with Pau Ferro fingerboard. In addition, the flat "C" neck profile creates optimum conditions for extremely comfortable playability.
The Sandberg Plus Single Coil and Plus Humbucker pickups were specially developed for the Sandberg California Grand Dark. The pickups are located in the middle position and on the bridge respectively. The humbucker convinces with its assertive and midrange sound, while the single coil convinces with a high clarity despite the distinctive bass foundation. The split switch can also be used to split the humbucker into a single coil with an extremely transparent sound. In addition, the Darkglass Tone Capsule is an extremely effective sound shaping tool on board, which allows precise and harmonic adjustments to the sound character with one bass and two mid-range controls.
Furthermore, the Sandberg California Grand Dark 5 PF Black Matte is equipped with indestructible Sandberg hardware in a dark glossy gunmetal finish. The well-known solid Sandberg Bridge 4 sits on the body of the instrument, which, with adjustable string riders in all three dimensions, enables optimum adjustment of intonation, string position and string spacing. At the opposite end of the bass, four lightweight Sandberg Machine Head tuners provide precise and stable tuning.
