With the Gibson Collector's Choice #30 1959 Les Paul "Gabby", the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville Tennessee presents a faithful reproduction of one of the best-preserved'59 bursts from the golden era of the electric guitar. Played and carefully handled by its first owner for over 50 years, Gabby astonished the Gibson Custom Shop team with an almost flawless finish and an intense, non-bleached Cherry Sunburst finish. Accordingly, the Gibson Collector's Choice #30 features the luminous "Appraisal Burst" that gives the Riegelahorn top a three-dimensional appearance, while the typical mahogany construction combined with the Gibson Custom Bucker pickups promises authentic vintage sounds.
For the construction of the Gibson Collector's Choice #30, Gibson uses carefully selected woods that do not differ in grain and weight from the original "Gabby". Accordingly, the body is made in one piece from particularly light mahogany, while the intense flame of the curly maple top corresponds to that of the original. The one-piece mahogany neck, glued with Long Neck Tenon and Hot Hide Glue, also has a precisely modeled profile so that the handling is indistinguishable from a real Holy Grail.
To get as close as possible to the 59 Les Paul with the serial number 90291, Gibson equips the Collector's Choice #30 1959 Les Paul "Gabby" with two Gibson Custom Bucker Pickups. Equipped with Alnico III magnets, these humbuckers convince with a lively vintage sound in the best PAF tradition, which brings every sound played to life with a vocal mid-spectrum and airy-light dynamics, so that control of the sound shaping is in the player's hands. The traditional circuit with 3-way toggle switch and individual volume and tone controls is available to control the pickups.
The hardware of the Gibson Collector's Choice #30 1959 Les Paul "Gabby" was also based on the original from 1959. The ABR Tune-O-Matic bridge with an aluminium tailpiece, designed by Ted McCarty, sits accordingly on the body, while a nylon saddle and Kluson Deluxe Single Band Green Key tuners are used on the headstock.
