The Gibson Historic '61 SG Standard VOS Faded Cherry is an authentic replica of the famous 'Red Devil' from the early sixties and convinces with traditional features of the Doublecut classic. The favourite of many rock idols such as Tony Iommi, Angus Young and Eric Clapton, the Gibson Historic '61 SG Standard presents the proven slim silhouette for fast playing and wide and powerful humbucker sounds. The Gibson Custom Shop uses a slim Authentic Slim 'C' neck profile and the sound of two custombucker pickups with Alnico III magnets, while six historically correct Kluson Double Band Deluxe tuners in the aged VOS finish on the headstock reliably maintain the tuning.
Among fans and collectors of Gibson instruments, the 'Long Neck Tenon', the long neck foot glued under the neck pickup, not only counts as a quality feature of good set-neck guitars, but also as a guarantor for resonant sounds and lasting stability, while the use of hot bone glue ensures extremely solid joints. Last but not least, the feeling of an instrument played over the years is already present on the first day thanks to the laborious VOS aging with vintage patina on the hardware and slight traces of playing.
In the neck and bridge position of the Historic '61 SG Standard VOS Faded Cherry, two custom bucker pickups with Alnico III magnets wound by the Gibson Custom Shop are used. Their electronics are hand-wired with CTS potis and Bumblebee capacitors on all volume and tone settings from the classic warm Woman Tone to the full rock board and call up the complete SG program. Thanks to VOS Aging, the nickel caps of both humbuckers also bear witness to authentic traces of play with vintage patina.
