With the new DUB GACE-ds Oak, the Slovakian manufacturer Dowina proves that it is possible to build a high-quality instrument from domestic woods, that is particularly well-balanced in sound and stands out. The all solid construction in Grand Auditorium style produces a very bright sound thanks to a dolomite spruce top. The oak body adds substance and produces powerful basses. The flat mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, combined with a 45 mm nut width and 650 mm scale length, offers excellent playability across all 21 frets. For on-stage use, a precise L.R. Baggs Stage Pro pickup system amplifies the acoustic sound of the guitar in a very natural way.
For the new DUB GACE-ds Oak, the manufacturer Dowina uses a top made of fine dolomite spruce with a very even structure and a delicate honey-coloured appearance, which is given a very individual character due to its light flames. Framed by a dark binding, the bright top wood contrasts with the carefully crafted soundhole rosette, which forms a gentle transition between top, bridge and fingerboard. The spruce produces a very treble rich sound with long-lasting overtones, which are particularly evident when picking and flow discreetly into the next tone when changing the finger positions.
The manufacturer uses a light oak wood for the bottom and the frames, which is unfolded and split with a dark back-strip inlay. It is precisely this partitioning into two separate floor sections that makes the coarse grain stand out, lending the entire construction a very noble appearance. Due to the firmness of the material, very powerful basses with quick response are produced, rounding off the overall sound and making the DUB GACE-ds Oak a very versatile instrument.
The manufacturer does not disappoint in terms of playability either and uses a flat mahogany neck for its Master Series, which is fitted with a noble ebony fingerboard. The 45 mm nut width promotes extremely easy playing up to the highest frets and allows even complicated fingerings to be mastered effortlessly. Just like the back, the neck features a dark back-strip inlay, forming a straight line from the headstock to the bottom of the back. The 12th and 13th frets of the ebony fretboard are decorated with a custom inlay in the shape of an acorn branch with two acorns and a leaf, which very aesthetically illustrates the manufacturer's special attention to detail. The headstock is equipped with golden Gotoh tuners with ebony heads that allow for very accurate tuning and, in combination with an L.R. Baggs Stage Pro pickup system, makes the guitar perfect for stage use.
