The Fame Forum IV Modern 20th Anniversary Burl Trans BlackHighgloss at a glance:
The Fame Forum IV Modern 20th Anniversary Burl Trans Black Highgloss electric guitar commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Fame brand as a strictly limited special edition model. With selected premium tonewoods, a full suite of modern features, and excellent playing comfort, this guitar delivers in every aspect. The slim mahogany body with a stunning poplar burl top not only impresses visually, but also provides a highly ergonomic playing experience. Generously shaped cutaways ensure unrestricted access across the entire fretboard. The glued-in mahogany neck features a slim "D" profile that sits comfortably in the hand, making every riff and solo on the ebony fingerboard feel natural and fluid. Plugged in, the proven pairing of Seymour Duncan SH-2n Jazz at the neck and SH-4 JB at the bridge offers a wide tonal spectrum – from clean pop to crunchy blues and powerful rock. The coil-split mini-switch enables authentic single-coil sounds for even greater tonal versatility. The integrated piezo pickup system also delivers convincing acoustic tones, allowing for an expanded sonic palette and creative expression. A GraphTech ResoMax Tune-O-Matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece and Gotoh locking tuners ensure rock-solid tuning stability and precise intonation.
With two Seymour Duncan humbuckers and a piezo pickup system in the bridge, the Fame Forum IV Modern 20th Anniversary Burl delivers versatile sounds.
Seymour Duncan humbucker for sounds between Blues and rock
Thanks to its versatile pickup configuration, the Fame Forum IV Modern 20th Anniversary offers exceptional tonal flexibility. Equipped with a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB in the bridge position and a SH-2n Jazz in the neck, this classic combination of humbuckers covers genres ranging from blues and pop to rock and even metal. The bridge pickup offers high output and strong midrange punch, while the neck pickup delivers singing sustain and a warm, vintage-inspired tone. The mini-switch allows coil-splitting, unlocking crisp single-coil sounds with bell-like clarity and fast response.
The front volume control is designed as a push/pull pot and activates the piezo. The humbuckers can be split into single coils using the mini switch.
Piezo pickup system
In addition to its magnetic pickups, the Fame Forum IV Modern 20th Anniversary features a GraphTech Ghost piezo system built into the bridge, powered by an onboard active preamp. The system is activated via a push-pull function on the master volume control and produces vibrant acoustic-style tones with bright highs and percussive attack through an amplifier. A rear-mounted control allows for piezo volume adjustment, making it easy to blend the acoustic and electric signals for a rich, layered tone.
The Fame Forum IV Modern 20th Anniversary Burl Trans Black Gloss has a body made of khaya mahogany, while the glued neck is made of sapele mahogany.
The Fame Forum IV Modern 20th Anniversary is equipped with Gotoh locking tuners for precise tuning and quick string changes.
Hardware from Gotoh and GraphTech
This limited-edition electric guitar also stands out for its reliable, performance-ready hardware. The GraphTech ResoMax Tune-O-Matic bridge features graphite string savers housing the Ghost piezo elements, paired with a traditional stopbar tailpiece for enhanced sustain and resonance. The Black TUSQ nut, also from GraphTech, ensures optimal string vibration transfer and stability. Precision Gotoh locking tuners provide smooth tuning adjustments and keep the strings securely in place – even under aggressive playing.
High playability and careful wood selection
Crafted by experienced luthiers in Europe, the Fame Forum IV Modern 20th Anniversary Burl is built with attention to detail and premium materials. The body is made from lightweight khaya mahogany and topped with carefully selected poplar burl, whose unique grain is beautifully highlighted by the high-gloss finish. A sharply contoured carved top and deep cutaway ensure unhindered access to the highest frets, enhancing the guitar’s ergonomic design. The glued-in sapele mahogany neck with its well-balanced "D" profile fits comfortably in the hand, while the smooth ebony fingerboard supports articulate playing across all registers.

Excerpt: Otherwise, perfection down to the last detail. The unlacquered satin surfaces convey an extremely pleasant feel, the ergonomics a high level of playing comfort. Schaller hardware, Seymour Duncan pickups and GraphTech Ghost Piezo Bridge with corresponding Preamp - that's how you score plus points. Last but not least, the sound of both guitars is absolutely convincing and, thanks to their very good resonance characteristics, excellent dynamics and stable Sustain, they can also be used for a wide range of different musical genres.

[...] All instruments in the Fame Forum IV Modern 20th Anniversary Series feature hand-selected premium burl poplar tops with unique grain and individual finish. Having viewed the guitar online, I was curious to see if it looked as cool in person as it did virtually, and I can confirm that it does. Removing it from the gig bag revealed a stunning contoured top that lived up to my expectations.

I've REALLY gelled with this guitar. First thing first the wood on this guitar and the craftsmanship are TOP notch. I was not impressed with the electronics the Duncan pickups, while a classic combo, didn't suit my needs. I put shur thornbuckers in right away. While the piezo pickups are graphtech the preamp is not, I changed that out as well. I also added a tone control and removed the piezo switch for a piezo volume (can be done with a mini pot). As you can see I'm super particular about my electronics so I don't fault fame, especially at this price. I will be buy another one! But, can we get a few more color options for the semi hollow!???
