The Squier Affinity Telecaster MN (Butterscotch Blonde) is a 6-String Electric Guitar with a Poplar Body, a Maple Neck and a Maple Fingerboard, from Squier’s Affinity Series. The Affinity Tele is one of the best value Electric Guitars on the market, and this model delivers solid sound and aesthetics thanks to 2x Standard Single-Coil Tele Pick-Ups combined with a stylish 1-Ply White Pickguard.
Equipped with a Maple Neck, this Guitar has a "C"-shaped profile adorned with White Dot Inlays and 21x Medium Jumbo Frets. 3-Way Pick-Up Switching offers an array of versatility, whilst a 6-Saddle Hardtail Bridge with Cast Saddles creates a slightly "slinkier" feel by reducing the break angle of the Strings over the Saddles. The 6x individual Saddles can be adjusted for precise intonation along each String.
Guitar was setup very well. Intonation spot-on. Low action, frets levelled and a very comfortable neck - easy to play out of the box. Great tone from bridge and neck pickups. Overall quality very impressive for a guitar at this low price point. Would make an ideal first guitar or as a basis for making upgrades.
It’s been a while since I bought a squier. 24 years in fact. And boy have they used that time well. Picking up the guitar it has a build quality that surpasses its price point. A great finish over a nice looking body. Beautiful light maple neck and fretboard. And solid feeing hardware. The only criticism is expected and that’s a little roughness on the fret ends that you can’t see with the naked eye. And can be fixed easily with a sanding block.
Acoustically it gives off more volume than my squier strat. Up and down the neck you can feel where the frets need to be played in built there isn’t a trace of buzz. Plugged in through my Marshall it sounds like a traditional tele. The brightness and twang when clean but happy to have a bit of a growl when the gain is nudged in the right direction.
I bought this purely to give me something to look forward to during Covid lockdown. But I love it already. Looking forward to getting to know it better and finding out what it can do.
Superbly packaged, so no damage is always a good start. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it looked straight out of the box. After a quick string change and a little adjusting of the action, it was good to go. I brought it for the office at work, but I like it so much, I've kept it at home as a second guitar. Sounds great plugged into my Blackstar amp too, with all the classic Tele tones available,
I can't believe how good it is for the money. I wish I could of had something this good as a first guitar, when I started learning in the 70s.
