Modal Electronics synthesizers for modern sound design

Modal Electronics was founded in Bristol, United Kingdom, in 2013. The development team set out to combine the innovative spirit of classic synthesizers with contemporary sound concepts, modern technology and a distinctive design approach.

Modal Electronics: from the hybrid Modal 002 to the ARGON8 Series

The Modal 002 marked an important stage in the company’s development. This polyphonic digital-analogue hybrid synthesizer combined digital oscillators with an analogue transistor ladder filter. It also offered storage for up to 10,000 sounds and an Ethernet connection that provided access to an integrated web server for editing every parameter.

The instruments of the 00 Series shaped the further development of Modal Electronics and continue to provide an important foundation for the brand’s sound concepts.

Compact synthesizers with extensive sound possibilities

In 2018, Modal Electronics introduced the SKULPT and CRAFTsynth 2.0 desktop synthesizers. Both models combined compact dimensions with a high level of functionality, direct operation and the distinctive sound character of the larger 00 Series instruments.

One year later, the range was expanded with the ARGON8 Series. These wavetable synthesizers combine versatile digital sound generation with extensive modulation options, flexible filters and a clearly structured control interface.

Modal Electronics therefore stands for modern synthesizers that combine distinctive sound concepts, extensive sound-design capabilities and practical operation.
