The Slipmat's ruggedness reduces the noise of handling the vinyl many times over, allowing for smoother movement. Furthermore, the diameter of the Slipmat is smaller than that of a normal vinyl. This is to prevent the vinyl from sticking to the Slipmat when changing it due to static electricity.
