With the electro-acoustic
Martin SC-13E
guitar, the traditional American manufacturer has come up with something very special and proudly presents a compact acoustic guitar in S-13-Fret design with cutaway. Despite its relatively small size, the guitar can build up an amazingly loud and defined sound thanks to a Sitka spruce top and a Koa-Fine-Veneer body, which transports especially warm midrange and expressive treble frequencies. The special feature of the SC-13E is the neck/body transition at the 13th fret, which gives the playing feel of a short-necked guitar, but still has a normal scale length of 645 mm. The flat neck made of Selected-Hardwood with a nut width of 44,45 mm and a noble ebony fretboard allows easy playing across all 20 frets. Chic open-gear nickel tuners sit enthroned on the characteristic Martin headstock and, in combination with a Tortoise pickguard and an eye-catching Mother of Pearl inlay with Celestial Blue Dot on the 12th fret, give the instrument a highly aesthetic appearance. The Martin SC-13E is rounded out with a Fishman MX-T pickup system and a sturdy Martin soft-shell gig bag.
This new SC-13E model from Martin Guitars is blowing my mind! The designers over at Martin re-thought and re-invented almost every aspect of the acoustic guitar, the neck joint, the body shape, the bracing, the neck shape, the bridge shape, and so on… As cool as these features all look, this guitar really has to be felt to be totally appreciated. It feels much more like an electric than an acoustic, and the access to the upper frets is unheard of in an acoustic guitar. This guitar is a perfect gigging guitar if you want a smooth & comfortable feel that you can play for hours, and balanced tone and articulation.
