The Taylor 224ce DLX LTD Trans Red Grand Auditorium is the latest model in the 200 Series, which includes a range of guitars of various designs and materials. With this model, Taylor presents a limited edition electro-acoustic acoustic guitar. Selected tonewoods and advantageous manufacturing features result in a professional instrument that is fully convincing both on stage and at Studio. Proven tonewoods and improved bracing create a strong sound

Exquisite tonewoods and effective bracing.

Singer-songwriters in particular will be pleased with the balanced sound created by a select combination of the tonewoods used here. Thus, the Sapele body provides a bright sound with pronounced tonal warmth in the basses and mids, while the solid mahogany top contributes the necessary assertiveness and an almost attack through its excellent vibration behaviour. Mahogany also enjoys high popularity in guitar making due to its warm tone, which especially emphasizes the mids. In addition, the Forward Shifted X-Bracing is an absolute premium feature of the 224ce DLX LTD Trans Red. Here, the intersection of the bars is a few mm closer to the sound hole, creating a larger top area behind the bracing for improved vibration behaviour. The sound thus receives more volume, which is especially beneficial to the stage presence of an instrument.

Maple neck with ebony fingerboard

Maple is also an extremely popular wood, which is preferred for the construction of guitar necks. Due to its high stability, the maple neck fits well in the hand here and offers the best quality to this demanding guitar part. At the same time, thanks to the velvety texture of the ebony fingerboard, the fretting hand glides from fret to fret as if by itself and, in conjunction with the 42.8 mm slim nut, enables extremely comfortable playability. Even the higher registers can be reached unimpeded due to the generous cutaway, allowing all 20 frets to be played with ease. The Venetian Cutaway incorporated here is an absolute classic for acoustic guitars and is characterized by its rounded cutaway on the body as well as a rounded tip, which gives it additional aesthetics in addition to high functionality.

Taylor Expression System 2

The Expression System 2 is Taylor's in-house development and an absolute innovation in the field of pickups for acoustic guitars. Here, three piezo elements pick up the acoustic signals of each pair of strings directly and transmit an unadulterated sound, whose volume, bass and treble can be individually adjusted and adapted by means of three controls. These are furthermore visually discreet and therefore almost invisible.

Design

The design of the Taylor 224ce DLX LTD is characterized by attractive, perfectly coordinated elements. The Trans-Red high-gloss finish allows the tight grain of the wood to shine through, while the white bindings, a rosette made of Italian Acrylic and Faux Pearl as well as Small-Diamond inlays set noble accents and complement the appearance and optical highlights.

Ebony & Koa: Sustainability at Taylor Guitars.

Uncontrolled clearing of forests and overexploitation lead to massively endangered wood species that are no longer able to regenerate due to the high pace of deforestation. These include ebony and koa in particular, whose dwindling stocks and the resulting ecological problems have prompted a rethink at Taylor Guitars.

Sustainable ebony cultivation in Cameroon

Because ebony 's hard, supple texture makes it particularly finger-friendly, it has long been the preferred choice for making fingerboards. Its attractive appearance is also extremely popular for bridges, headstock rests, bridge Pins and Bindings. However, high demand and a thriving black market outstripped stocks, landing ebony on the Red List of Endangered Species in 1994. Moreover, only the jet-black heartwood, which makes up only a fraction of the tree, was used, resulting in a disproportionately large amount of waste in production. In order to protect the forests, Taylor has therefore been working since 2011 with the Crelicam Wood Mill in Yaoundé in Cameroon to promote controlled consumption by processing waste products. Thus, not only black ebony elements are found in Taylor guitars, but also the different colored, more clearly grained parts of the tree. This complete recycling is an effective method of preserving stocks and successfully counteracts their dramatic decline and the negative ecological effects that accompany it.

Siglo Tonewoods Project

Koa acacia populations have also suffered severe losses over the last 20 years. Unsustainable forestry as well as overexploitation led to a decline that can only be stopped by proactive action and reforestation. Therefore, Taylor Guitars together with Pacific Rim Tonewoods founded the Siglo Tonewoods project, which aims to rebuild the Hawaiian virgin forest. This is a large cultivation area for koa acacia and other species, which allows the use of koa wood on a controlled scale.
