The Zoom H8 is a mobile recording device that meets even the highest demands: The device allows sample rates of up to 96kHz at 24bit, records up to 12 tracks simultaneously and serves as a USB audio interface if required. Microphones can be connected to 4 of the 6 XLR connectors, levelled and supplied with phantom power as required. Each of the 6 connectors can be levelled separately. In addition, the XYH-6 stereo capsule in X/Y configuration from the new zoom capsule system allows crystal-clear room recordings. Direct monitoring can be realised via the headphone or line output. In this way the H8 can also be connected to your camera.
The H8 Field Recorder includes an internal effects processor to enhance your recording with high-pass filter, EQ, compressor, limiter, etc. and 3 intuitive recording modes, each with its own app: the podcast app makes the Zoom H8 the perfect companion for live streaming. The LCD screen displays pads that can be used, for example, to trigger sound effects or playback, which you can choose from the 13 supplied or insert yourself via SD card. In music mode, the display gives you an overview of the parameters level, fader settings, panning etc. If you connect the H8 to a computer, Zoom Guitar Lab gives you access to a huge selection of amps and effects. Finally, the Field app considerably enlarges the controls on the display and focuses on noise gate, filter and dynamics settings. This feature makes it easy to work during conferences or outdoor recordings.

As for the quality of the product, I think it delivers to my expectation with great sound quality which one can use in creating professional content. Only thing I would have like to see it do would be to have 32bit recording capability but there is always the F series for that. Apart from that it is a great product for field recording (haven't tried the other features as I have an entirely different setup to record Music and I never do podcasts)
