The electrical tone conversion of the 5150 Standard Series electric guitar is handled by two EVH Wolfgang humbuckers bolted directly to the body. Equipped with Alnico magnets, the high-output pickups elicit juicy oerdrive and distortion tones from the guitar's amplifier, rendering every note with razor-sharp precision even during high-speed shredding. While the volume control is a smooth EVH/Bourns Low Friction potentiometer combined with a treble bleed to prevent treble loss when reducing the volume, the heavy EVH/Bourns High Friction Tone pot holds its setting securely even during wild stage action. The distinctive killswitch on the lower body horn can also be used to create choppy staccato and machine gun sounds.
