The Gibson Nathaniel Rateliff LG-2 Western produces a clear and wide-ranging sound thanks to its all-solid construction and the finest selected tonewoods. It's hardly surprising, then, that the LG-2 Western guitar has been a decades-long companion of the exceptional musician and guitarist of the band Night Sweats. Much like the versatility of his distinctive style, sonically the signature instrument is a blend of Nathaniel's old LG-2 and country western models. Included in the package is a sturdy Gibson hardshell case.

Construction and woods

Thanks to its compact LG-2 size and all-solid woods, the acoustic guitar develops a balanced and full-range sound that unfolds quickly and completely. The Adirondack spruce top enriches the sound with clear mid and treble frequencies, while the mahogany back and sides complement it perfectly with warm basses. This makes the instrument perfect for fine Pickings and vocal accompaniment. To create a direct response, the top is equipped with a handmade scalloped X-bracing, which in combination with the very thin nitrocellulose varnish allows a very free vibration behavior. At the same time sorgt a mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and special Historic-V-profile provides a very obliging playability in all 20 frets.

Hardware

To ensure that all frets intonate cleanly, the manufacturer equips the Nathaniel Rateliff LG-2 with a compensated bridge inlay and a 44.45 mm nut made of bone. In addition, nickel-plated Gotoh keystone tuners guarantee precise tuning of the 6 steel strings, which are fixed with black bridge pins in the typical rectangular rosewood bridge.

Design

Visually, the instrument is undoubtedly dominated by the vintage sunburst finish, which is perfectly matched to the multi-ply bindings and the simple rectangular bridge. The fretboard is adorned with generous parallelogram inlays that contrast nicely with the rough-grained rosewood.

Electronics

In order to amplify the acoustic sound, a high-quality L.R. Baggs VTC pickup system is built into the Gitarre. The output signal can be adjusted individually via a control in the sound hole. The active system is powered by a 9V block battery.
