With the 1959 Gibson Tamio Okuda ES-330 Classic White, the Gibson Memphis Division presents a faithful replication of the Thinlie Hollowbody electric guitar that the well-known Japanese guitarist and producer has been using on stage and in the studio for some time. Accordingly, the guitar has not only a classically constructed body without center block, but also a comfortably playable mahogany neck and two Gibson MHS P-90 pickups. In addition, the Gibson Tamio Okuda ES-330 is equipped with a Bigsby vibrato.
Just like Tamio Okoda's original from 1959, the Gibson ES-330 Tamio Okuda is made with the classic hollow body construction. Accordingly, the slim body has a top, back and sides made of the typical maple-poplar laminate, which can swing freely due to the absence of a centre block and thus promises an especially warm and resonant sound. The glued mahogany neck with its rounded "Traditional C" profile also lies comfortably in the hand, so that every note goes smoothly out of your fingers when playing the electric guitar.
Two Gibson MHS P-90 single coils are used as pickups on the Gibson Tamio Okuda ES-330 Classic White. These Memphis Historic Spec pickups were developed after extensive analysis of the best originals from the golden era of the electric guitar and deliver a particularly lively, warm sound that harmonizes perfectly with the resonant character of the hollow body construction. Promisingly defined basses, broad, fat mids and silky highs are the perfect basis for classic blues and rock licks. The pickups are classically controlled by 3-way toggle switches and individual volume and tone controls.
Of course Gibson Tamio Okuda 1959 ES-330 is equipped with historically correct hardware. The tailpiece is a classic Bigsby B-7 vibrato, which invites to decorate melodies and chords with gently shimmering modulations. From there the strings are passed over the Gibson No Wire ABR Tune-O-Matic bridge before they meet the historically correct nylon saddle at the headstock after a 24.75" scale length (628 mm). In addition, Kluson tuners with elegant "White Oval" buttons ensure precise tuning of the electric guitar.
