Despite its extremely compact dimensions, the Palmer Pocket Amp Bass turns out to be a fully-fledged preamplifier for electric bass, which convinces with its enormous sound diversity and high sound culture when practicing, recording and performing. The compact pedal features a 3-band tone control with semi-parametric mids, a versatile drive section and a symmetrical direct out with speaker simulation.
To adjust the basic sound character, the Palmer Bass Pocket Amp offers three operating modes, Clean, Overdrive and Fuzz, covering the most common gain levels for each musical genre. The drive control influences the degree of distortion, while the 3-band tone control with semi-parametric midband allows the bass sound to be precisely tuned. In addition, a smooth compression can be added via the Saturate control, which enhances the sound with a clear reminiscence to classical tape machines. A serial insert path is also available for connecting further effect devices.
With its versatile connectors, the Palmer Pocket Bass Amp is equipped for almost all imaginable applications. It is equipped with a balanced DI output for easy connection to mixing consoles, PA systems and recording devices, with the integrated speaker simulation fully convincing with its natural sound. The compact bass preamp also features a headphone jack for quiet practice and an aux input for playing songs or backing tracks. Last but not least, the Palmer Pocket Amp Bass can be used as an effect pedal in front of a regular bass amplifier thanks to the To-Amp output.
This is a fabulous pedal - it's a professional and extremely versatile pre-amp and DI, amp/cab modeller and a brilliant practice tool. Being able to tune your bass sound to playback tracks makes you sound like you are in the mix and practice sounds much more like playing with a band. Its built like a tank and I'll be taking it wherever me and my bass go.
