The AE-20 Aerophone from Roland is a professional wind transducer with saxophone fingering and cutting-edge Zen Core synthesis. The slimmed down version of the AE-30 has been additionally redesigned and developed in collaboration with renowned wind instrumentalists. As a result, sensing and control have been optimized with extremely low latency for uncompromising musical response and playability. In addition, the fingering can be easily adapted to different instruments such as saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder or a completely individual setup. On top of that, the instrument scores with high-quality materials, an easy-to-read OLED display and is equipped with professional connections.
The Roland AE-20 Aerophone's cutting-edge sound engine is based on the ZEN-Core and SuperNATURAL sound engines and allows for in-depth sound editing. Over 800 acoustic and electronic sounds, ranging from classical to modern to world music, offer something for almost every taste. Wind instruments are covered with soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, clarinet, flute, trumpet to shakuhachi flute and bagpipes, among others. Stringed instruments like violin, cello and even an erhu lute can also be found in the sound selection. All sounds can be given delay, chorus, reverb & multi-effects thanks to the powerful effects processor. Detailed sound changes and the organization of the sounds is conveniently done with the free available Aerophone Pro Editor (iOS & Android) application on your smartphone or tablet. The blow converter is playable on up to four parts, which is divided into three parts for instrument sounds and one for percussion. Thus, supported by a DAW, you can record a small arrangement single-handedly and play it back in the AE-20.
The AE-20 Aerophone is not only a stand-alone instrument, it also allows you to control external devices via MIDI, USB and Bluetooth. Thanks to the blow control, completely new possibilities arise that a keyboard cannot offer. By the way, via USB the audio signal of the AE-20 is also transferred lossless directly to the DAW. So nothing stands in the way of a professional and clean recording. By means of integrated speaker, headphone jack and battery operation, you can play and practice for yourself and for others at will.
With the Aerophone Lesson App, which is available for iOS and Android, you get access to practice songs and other learning content that is tailored to the handling of the Aerophone and introduces you haptically as well as technically to the blow transducer. In addition, Roland offers the equally free Aerophone Pro Editor which gives you access to various menu parameters of the AE-20, allowing you to customize the blow transducer even better to your own needs. furthermore, sounds and scenes can be conveniently managed and organized with this app.
