MIDI transformations & generators:
Create ornamentations and articulations, or sketch curves to vary the tempo of notes. You can link consecutive notes and chords, or simulate the strumming of guitar strings. Using the MIDI generators is a fun way to generate fresh ideas, which you can then develop and customise to suit your own vision. With the versatile transformations and generators from Max for Live, you can take your creative process a step further.
Search for similar sounds: Select a sample and effortlessly use the ‘Similar Sounds’ search in Live’s browser to find comparable sounds and instrument or drum presets. This feature is based on a neural network. You can also replace all samples in Simpler or a Drum Rack with similar-sounding variants.
Tuning systems:
Explore tuning systems beyond equal temperament and find the one you feel most comfortable with – whether in Live’s own applications, MPE-compatible plug-ins or external hardware.
Keys and scales:
Transform musical ideas using the clip scale, or adjust the key of MIDI devices and instruments to match the clip to discover new sonic nuances.

You can now view clips and applications simultaneously to see at a glance what’s happening on your track. The mixer can also be displayed in Arrangement view without having to switch to Session view – for greater control and a smoother workflow. Discover new sounds and find them effortlessly with the browser’s new tagging system and search history. You can also freeze tracks and convert them to audio in a single step.
