With the Xsynth, ESI presents a digital synthesizer that could hardly be flatter or more compact. The 25-key keyboard is velocity-sensitive and even features polyphonic aftertouch for more expressive playing. The virtual-analog sound generation offers a very versatile sound spectrum within the 10-voice polyphony, providing crisp basses, club-ready lead and pad sounds, but also sci-fi sounds and even percussions. The Xsynth forms its sounds from three oscillators including a ring modulator, a multimode filter with switchable slope, three AHDSR envelopes, three LFOs and a modulation matrix with 16 slots. The Xsynth provides three effect slots for refining and spicing up the sounds. Slot 1 includes EQ, Distortion and wahwah, slot 2 specializes in reverb and slot 3 covers modulation effects and Delay. There are 512 memory slots for sounds, which can be overwritten with user-created sounds. A well-equipped arpeggiator that covers the most common playback patterns serves as a playing aid. Due to the compact form factor, the handwheels for Pitchbend and modulation have been dispensed with and replaced by two pressure-sensitive buttons.
Another highlight is the integrated audio interface with 24-bit/96 kHz converters. This makes it possible to transfer the audio signal from the Xsynth or an external signal that is present at the audio input directly into the DAW. Conversely, the audio interface is able to forward the stereo signal from the computer at the audio output to an amplifier or mixing console.
The ESI Xsynth comes with a software package consisting of Cubase LE, Wavelab LE and Bitwig 8-Track. This means you can get started with music production straight away and have all the necessary software with you.
