Founded in 1927 in Indiana, USA, Electrovoice has been manufacturing loudspeakers since the 1950s and has been a major player in the industry ever since. The company's name stands for robust quality products that are used professionally all over the world. The ZLX series follows this tradition and convinces with modern design, contemporary features and superior performance.
Modern, digital power amplifiers have several advantages: Class-D output stages have a significantly higher efficiency than Class-B designs. In some cases it is over 90 %. Since less power is dissipated as heat, the cooling and mains transformer can be smaller, which means significantly less weight. As a result, the Electro Voice ZLX-12P can deliver up to 1000 watts of peak power while weighing only 15.6 kg , whereas the continuous power output is a whopping 250 watts . This results in a sound pressure level of 126 dB at peak and 95 dB in continuous operation .
The system uses a 12" woofer and a 1.5" tweeter compression driver with titanium diaphragm , which is coupled to the room by a Directivity Horn with a dispersion angle of 60° in the vertical and 90° in the horizontal. In order to minimise differences in runtime, the woofer is positioned slightly inside the cabinet compared to the tweeter horn, so that the voice coils of both drivers are in the same plane. The cabinet itself is made of resistant plastic and has a robust steel front . It offers 3 handles to facilitate transport and especially mounting it on speaker stands. A special bracket is available for wall mounting.
The ZLX-12P's on-board DSP provides various parameters for adjusting the speaker to the spatial and technical conditions. The modes MUSIC (default), LIVE , SPEECH and CLUB offer presets for bass and treble adjustment for the intended use. The location parameters POLE (default), MONITOR and BRACKET , optimise the frequency response for use on stands, as floor monitor or wall mounted. BASS and TREBLE allow a boost of +/- 10 dB. The SUB menu provides access to the parameters for operation with a subwoofer.
Whether used as a club system with the ELX118P subwoofer , a stage monitor , or as a standalone in smaller rooms, the pleasantly lightweight ZLX-12P cuts a fine figure anywhere. With its impressive peak power of 1000 watts and phase-optimised speaker positioning, it ensures a dynamic response and precise output. Operation of the DSP is intuitive and allows for practical adjustments for room and application. Practical detail: a 3.5 mm jack input for connecting MP3 players is also included. These qualities make the slim ZLX-12P a robust and powerful all-rounder with excellent sound characteristics - and all that at a sensational price!
Electro Voice ZLX-12PVery pleased with this loudspeaker, at a price-quality hard to find something similar! Use the small events are very satisfied! Weight acoustics only 15.5 kg! My wife uses ZLX 12P at childrens parties and she wears it without help! For mobile musicians good choice! For large events need a subwoofer!!! Purchase satisfied.

I recently bought these speakers after reading many good reviews about them. It was actually a bit of a gamble to buy these speakers because I never heard them in real life. I gave it a shot and ordered them. My first impressions was: WOW these sound great and they still do. I not only use them for parties up to 200 people but also as monitors in my bedroom to mix. Last night I was practicing my mixing skills in my room next to my girlfriend and suddenly she said: 'wow they really sound clear and good. I was surprised because I never had a reaction of her about technical stuff but hey they do sound good ;).
Overall: These are really good speakers for their budget and they go loud and still play clear. However if you want to play loud and still have a good bass you should ad aa subwoofer to fill the gap. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone! ps: delivery was superb also ;)
